The simplest way to check what page your website is on is to do a Google search for the keyword(s) you are targeting and then click through until you find your site. However, something as simple as being logged into Gmail can skew your results, making your site look like it is ranking higher than it really is. The solution? Your browser most likely has a privacy mode that will enable you to get a more accurate look at where you rank.
To enable privacy (or incognito) mode on your browser, look to the following:
- In Google Chrome, click on the wrench in the top right section of the browser, then click on “New incognito window”
- For Firefox, click on Tools in the menu bar and select “Start Private Browsing”
- Internet Explorer 9’s private browsing is found under the Safety menu as “InPrivate Browsing”
Try it today – check if you see a difference from a search in a regular window compared to a private window and let us know your results!
