This week we’ve seen a couple websites drop in rankings for no apparent reason. Coupled with this, there was a strange date accompanying the site in Google SERPs. At first, we were a bit perplexed, but experience has taught us that patience can be the key with these types of dips. Is it a penalty? Is it just a Google dance? A major algorithm update?
We were not alone in seeing crazy dips, as per Coronation IM:
If your website’s rankings in Google dropped around November 10, 2016, it may be the result of an error in Google’s algorithm. We’ve discovered an easy, temporary fix until they get this fixed.
The date next to the results page was the clue that led to a solution that works short term. If you’re seeing the same issues, we recommend that you check out Coronation’s post on how to fix it.
Leave us a comment if you’ve seen the same problem, and if Coronation’s suggestion solves your problem.
