Last week, while performing maintenance checks on our own site, we discovered a Google+ fact somewhat by accident. If you are blogging or posting to various social media markets, posting to Google+ is a must for great SEO results.
As you may have noticed, when Canada West Internet Marketing posts a blog on its site, these posts are then delivered to both Facebook and Twitter. Since Google+ has no API as of yet, we are manually posting the link to our blog articles on Google+. However, we failed to post two of the articles from last week’s blogs to Google+. When checking the status of our site indexing on the Google search engine, the posts that were on Google+ had been indexed (one within an hour of posting), while the posts that had only been on Facebook & Twitter had not yet been indexed.
We have to only speculate at this time that Google has put a heavy focus on their own social media product, but this goes beyond a battle for social networks. Keep in mind what was indexed was not the Google+ post itself, but the post directly from our website. So, whether the immediate Google indexing of our posts that had been on Google+ was a complete coincidence or a great SEO tip that we stumbled upon through error, for now, make sure your posts are finding their way onto your Gooogle+ page with a link back to your site’s post!
Let us know if you’ve found the same results.
